the clown

Running alongside, and often smashing into Micah Rustichelli’s arts practice is their clubkid clown persona. Existing primarily in nightlife spaces, festivals and cabaret line-ups, this caricature of the artist themselves plays with the silly, sexy and subversive sides of artistic play. Part performance art and part taking-the-piss, the clown allows Rustichelli to make fun of themselves and their practice, embracing absurdity, drag, burlesque, slapstick and fetish. This alternative practice vessel is site-responsive, bringing performance art methodology to the audience contract of nightclubs, festivals, parties, dens, dungeons, bathrooms … you get the idea.
