that i should pray for angels
That I Should Pray For Angels is a sculptural exhibition that co-opts survivalist, camping and prepping materials and explores how they may be re-purposed in queer ways. This work emerges from Rustichelli’s own climate anxiety, queerness and experience in prepping. Drawing from the apocryphal text of Enoch, the work ruminates on the idea of divine punishment, biblical apocalypse and the role of fallen angels in biblical text as sharers of forbidden knowledge and intimacy.
This project was developed through a 9-week residency opportunity with Metro Arts - working out of the MAVA substation. Micah utilised this opportunity to explore wearables, utility objects and new material processes with metalworking and textiles. Following their embodied practice methodology, the studio process of practice-led play and development of intuitive readymade wearables exists as its own integral part of the work.
